Good news from Lite-On. Their drives are very popular at the moment, it is not without reason that our LiteOn Forum has been extremely active during the last months. They expect to sell 40 million drives next year. Included are the famous CD-writers, but also CD- and DVD-ROMs. Because profits on these drives are very low, they hope to sell more combo drives, which give higher benefits.
Lite-On IT expects shipments to continue to grow in the fourth quarter. However, due to falling product prices, it estimates revenues will be flat on the third quarter.
Regarding the decreasing profit margin of CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives, Lite-On IT said it will try to ship more higher-margin combo drives. Boosted by new orders, it expects to ship three million combo drives next year.
Not a surprise for most of us I guess. High quality drives for a low price, what more do you want? Take a look at the entire article.
