Lite-On IT and BenQ 16x DVD burners drop below 30 dollars

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us about an important price break on these very popular drives..once again from DigiTimes!

With 18x DVD burners becoming the market mainstream, Lite-On IT and BenQ are clearing their inventories of 16x DVD burners at bargain prices in

Taiwan's retail market, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN). Lite-ON"s 16x DVD burners sell for NT$950 (US$28.9) each, while BenQ"s 16x model is priced at NT$1,090, with a NT$100 rebate coupon, the paper said. DVD burners of the same speed from Japanese and Korean vendors are still priced at NT$1,200 on average, the paper added.

Oddly, I have one of each brand of burners at my house, these are my favorite companies. Sorry NEC fans! *ducks*

We are so lucky to be able to purchase such technology for less than a small cake box of dual layer discs. I can live without 18x for sure and if I needed a new drive, I would surely look at 16x bargains out there, while they are still around.
