As you probably know it's possible to switch off the media compatibility checker(Smart-burn) with the LTR-40125S, but this is in fact also possible with the LTR-32123S and most likely the LTR-24103S as well.
But not with the LTR-24102B we actually tested that one also. Nero won't let you disable smart-burn for other writers than the LTR-40125S, but:
With the new CD-Mate beta(version 2.2.4.4) we are using right now it's possible to go to: File-->Properties-->Speed tab and tick "disable smart-burn" and it actually works!!!!
Note: Disabling Smart-BURN will not disable the buffer underrun protection, only the media checker.
Tried with a lot of different discs that would only record at 16X, 20X or 24X before and they would now record successfully at 32X.
To test if the discs was fully readable we used the scandisc function in Nero CD-Speed version 0.85e beta. We tested the discs with several drives and all drives was able to read the discs back without any problems!!!!
We take no responsibility for the use of this trick to disable the media compatibility checker, since you may in the worst case end up with unreadable discs. So use at your own risk
Our LTR-32123S drive was updated with firmware XS0R which you may donload right here, maybe this firmware is needed for this trick to work.
