Owners of NEC
drives were recently
suprised with a modified firmware that allowed to change the booktype of their
drives. Changing the booktype will result in better playback of DVD discs
and it sets a bit on the disc that makes the DVD player think it reads a DVD-ROM
disc. The Lite-On utility seems for now only to work on DVD+R discs and not on
DVD+RW. Besides this, there is now also a patch available to make your Lite-On
DVD recorder regio free and also an updated version KProbe is
available.
