Lite-On obtains orders for slim 8x DVD burners from Dell

DigiTimes reports us that Lite-On IT
has landed orders for 8x
DVD burners from computer manufacturer Dell. Shipments are
to begin in the second quarter of this year, according to local
competitors. However, Lite-On IT declined to confirm the reports:

Lite-On IT started production of slim 4x DVD burners at the end
of last year. According to the company, OEM prices of such models and
slim-type combo drives stand at US$ 120-130 and US$ 60, respectively. The
company will offer 16x DVD burners at the end of this year.
