DamnedIfIknow used our news submit to tell us "Finally, a legal service to get lossless audio from. Still too expensive though. You can checkout the company"s website here."

We must agree that it's nice to see a company offer downloads that are of at least CD quality, but with Windows WMA, we are still saddled with annoying digital rights management. Therefore, the players that will accept such a technology for playback are limited. How well this concept of quality downloads will be accepted in the marketplace is going to be interesting to follow. Also, we have to wonder about the burning capabilities of such a file.
At any rate, MusicGiants offer a catalog from four important labels; EMI, Warner, Sony/BMG and Universal. Presently, they are asking $1.29 a track and a 50 dollar a year membership. The average price for an album is $15.29 but the price varies with multi-disc albums. The service will require you to download the MusicGiants software to download your tracks, but the
program will also import files that are already on your hard drive and includes a player. One thing that's pretty cool is it dynamically catalogs your entire collection and can let you know if you already have the file on your disc so you don't waste money and time downloading something you already have. It is even smart enough (as we can see above) to let you know if you have a lossy rendition of a track as well as the Hi-Fi version and then it tells you how much it will cost to flesh out your collection in lossless splendor. Neat!
