MPAA to send more people to the poor house with lawsuits

DamnedIfIknow used our news submit to tell us that the MPAA is at it again with a new barrage of lawsuits filed on thursday against John Doe defendants. The lawsuits target those that copy and share films and tv shows on the internet. The lawsuits are seeking up to $150,000 for each digital file downloaded from the internet. The lawsuits come as the movie industry gets ready for the Oscar telecast in Holywood.

Legal Hollywood"s major movie studios filed a new round of lawsuits across the United States on Thursday against people who trade illegally copied films and TV shows on the Internet.

MPAAThe civil suits against unnamed "John Doe" defendants seek up to $150,000 per downloaded digital file and come as the U.S. film industry prepares for its annual Oscar telecast in Hollywood where awards for top films and stars are given out.

This is a great shame as the movie industry is doing fine money wise its not like the music industry. Cinema tickets are costing more and more and it just isnt a fair deal anymore. I guess when you start overcharging customers they will find another way of getting what they want.
