MS Runs Out of XP Licenses,

SPINESHANK used our newssubmit to tell us:

In order to encourage people to not run their new operating system Windows XP on unlicensed computers, Microsoft began offering family licenses, which authorized people to run XP on other computers for less than a new license.

However, to the embarrassment of Microsoft, they have run out of the licenses less than a month after XP was released. "We're in the process of restocking, but while it sounds like it may be easy, there is actually a manufacturing process involved."

To make the license issue even more complicated, family licenses aren't available to people who buy computers with Windows XP already installed. Not that they offer a big savings - family licenses cost only $10 less than a new copy.

Ahh, now they can feel the way most people feel about Xstra Provocative Windows Operating System.
