``Utilizing Macrovision's Anti-Copy Process on 100% of their titles reaffirms Palm Pictures' ongoing commitment to protect its titles,'' said Carol Flaherty, vice president of Video Technology Division at Macrovision. ``Palm recognizes that its content, especially 'anime,' is acutely susceptible to consumer copying. By copy protecting its DVD and VHS products, Palm Pictures is providing its retailers with a valuable tool that helps maximize rental and sell-through investments.''
Macrovision's copy protection is designed to prevent unauthorized copying of DVD, VHS and PPV programming to VCRs without impacting the original picture. Macrovision introduced its DVD copy protection in 1997 and it is now utilized on over 70 percent of all video DVDs distributed by most Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) studios, as well as corporate, educational, and special interest rights owners. Over 500 million DVDs, 3 billion videocassettes, and 60 million digital set-top boxes have utilized Macrovision's video copy protection technologies.
