Macrovision UK announced yesterday that they will be demonstrating its latest DRM solution, MacroSAFE™ and its core video copy-protection products at the IBC in Amsterdam this year.
MacroSAFE is a multi-layered, IP-based software solution that guarantees the secure distribution and management of video, audio, and graphics, and other multimedia applications to a variety of IP-based devices, including PCs and set-top boxes. It conforms to the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standards. The system includes AES and triple DES encryption, built-in tamper-hardening and separation of licenses and content to increase security and flexibility. MacroSAFE's architecture supports revocation and renewability of licences in case of security violations, as well as ease of implementation at content owner level. |
MacroSAFE consists of three parts: the software tools for preparing content, the web services-based software for the secure delivery of content and licenses to clients, and a secure client that establishes an 'island of trust' for the safe consumption of content. It is a way to 'safely' (?) deliver content to the end user.
