Macrovision Signs VOD Copy Protection Agreement
with LodgeNet Entertainment Corporation

Macrovision Corporation announced today that LodgeNet Entertainment Corporation has signed a multi-year agreement to use Macrovision's technology to copy protect movies released by Hollywood studios for viewing in hotels, casinos and resorts throughout the United States and Canada. Macrovision's technology will be applied to protect movies distributed via digital video file servers as well as by VHS cassette-based systems.

'LodgeNet offers movies before they are released to other distribution channels," said William M. Coleman, Vice President Studio Relations & Film Licensing Worldwide for LodgeNet.

'LodgeNet recognizes and appreciates the concerns of the Hollywood studios about protecting the long-term value of their movies, so we are stepping up to the plate and using Macrovision's technology to protect both the digital files and VHS cassettes we use in our VOD systems."

'By signing this license and copy protecting VOD, LodgeNet is clearly demonstrating their support of and commitment to the Hollywood movie industry," said Tom Carroux, Director of Sales for Macrovision.

Macrovision's technology is designed to allow consumers to transparently view original VOD and VHS programming, but prevents unauthorized copying on DVD recorders and significantly distorts unauthorized copies made with VCRs and D-VHS recorders. In addition, the majority of hard drive recorders and home media center PCs recognize Macrovision's technology and disable recording of copy protected content.
