magiciso used our news submit to tell us about an ISO editing and burning utility called Magic ISO maker. MagicISO is much like a traditional CD/DVD burning application, but instead of recording a CD, it can also create an ISO compliant image file, thus making it possible to distribute CD images for end users to record themselves. It also supports editing and file extraction of existing ISO images as well as making bootable ISO images.
This application is capable of burning all known CD file image formats to CD including Nero and Bin format as well as extracting the contents of a CD or DVD to an ISO image file. Magic ISO maker supports ISO9660, Joliet and UDF format. It also supports the conversion of several CD image types to the standard ISO image format.

New Features for v3.6(build 67)

With a good majority of PC users owning at least a CD recorder it is much handier to distribute downloadable ISO images along with a printable PDF manuals instead of shipping a physical retail box. This way the end user is encouraged to burn the ISO to CD to make use of it and is less likely to lose their purchased download should some catastrophe happen such as by hard drive failure or a virus. Other examples would include bootable virus checkers and recovery tools that can easily be downloaded as an ISO file ready to record to CD. I am surprised that many virus checking companies do not provide any bootable virus checkers as ISO images. Viruses that infect existing executable files including system processes (which I have already seen happen) on a NTFS partition cannot be removed even in the safe mode. A clean bootable CD with a virus checker would come very handy here and could easily be created from someone else's PC using a downloadable ISO image.
The shareware version of MagicISO which is limited to a 300MB maximum image size can be downloaded here . The full product is currently priced from $ 29.95 and can be purchased here.
