McDonald's has teamed up with Sony's music service to give away free digital music in their restaurants. The fast food chain will allow customers to access a free song from Sony's connect online music service for every promotional Big Mac meal purchased. The service is launched in the US , Canada and Puerto Rico this month and in France Germany and the UK this July. Sony's Connect service offers over 500,000 music tracks for selection, so there should be enough choice for people eating at McDonalds. The McDonalds service will be advertised by Justin Timberlake through various TV adverts.
On a side note the British Dietic Foundation said that the promotional campaign was a major concern as this promotion will be mainly aimed at children. There has been major concern over how advertisers target young children which is not helping with ways to tackle obesity.

Buy a McDonalds Big Mac meal and you'll get a free song it sure wont help children eat more healthily but I am sure the Music industry's doesn't really care as long as their pockets are laden with extra cash as well as promoting their legal download services.
