Memorex adds DuraLayer robust coating to its mini DVD line

Memorex, a well known brand for optical discs has announced that they will protect its entire line of mini DVD products (DVD-R & DVD-RW) with its DuraLayer scratch-resistant hard coating technology.  This layer protects the disc against scratches and dust that would ruin regular DVD media.  As the main use for mini DVD's is in DVD camcorders, this will allow the consumer to preserve their priceless DVD-R recordings as well as get many more reuses from DVD-RW's.

According
to Memorex, their mini DVD line is gaining popularity, thus indicating a greater popularity in products that make use of mini DVD's.  Besides usage in a camcorder, these mini DVD's can also be used for holding up to 1.4GB data such as video content, music or carrying 2 CDs worth of data on a small 8cm disc.

These DuraLayer mini DVD's will be available nationwide and sold at US$17.99 RRP for a pack of three mini DVD-RW's in mini jewel cases or a pack of five mini DVD-R's in mini jewel cases.

Memorex, the number one brand of digital media and media accessories, today announced that its DuraLayer(TM) scratch-resistant hard-coating technology will be added to the company's full line of compact Mini DVD-R and Mini DVD-RW discs.  The coated discs -- specially designed for use with direct-to-DVD camcorders -- are ideal for amateur and professional videographers who require media that is especially resistant to the rough handling that can occur during on-the-go recording and frequent disc swapping.

Memorex has added this protective bottom layer hard-coat to its entire line of Mini DVD products as a defense against the scratches, handling and dust particles that can physically damage recordable media.  DuraLayer scratch-resistant technology protects discs from this type of physical damage so that consumers can feel confident that their treasured videos and photos
are safe for years to come.

It will be interesting to see how well their new mini
DVD media stands up to everyday abuse.  My previous experience with
Memorex's regular media was not great as I have lost several CD-R's and
CD-RW's due them being very easily scratched and had one disc die of CD rot just a month after recording it.  Then again, apart from the issues with scraching, I use to find that their media offered very good compatibility and performance, especially when used with the early picky DVD players and DVD-ROM drives.
