Memorex unveils $99 touch PMP

Memorex introduced a new touch-screen personal media player during CES, with the introduction of the TouchMP.

"A custom user interface makes it easy to navigate and quickly enjoy media files no matter what type of content you are playing," a Memorex statement said.

The TouchMP has a 2.8-inch QVGA touch-screen display (320x240 resolution), 8GB storage, FM radio, video player, microSD expansion slot, and podcast support.  It can play WMV, MPEG-4 and AVI videos, while supporting MP3, WMA, and WAV music files, a Memorex press release stated.  All photos are shown in JPEG.

"The TouchMP digital media player puts entertainment and favorite memories at your fingertips, packing tremendous value into this little touch screen device," Memorex global brand director Jessica Walton said in a statement.

Memorex plans to begin shipping the TouchMP sometime this spring.

It seems that touch screen players are picking up steam, but most viable selections will cost more than $99.  The device itself looks solid enough, and it'll be curious to see if consumers drop cash on it this spring.
