Micro Solutions ships external (USB 2.0) 4x DVD+RW recorder

MrDish2000 used our newssubmit to tell us that Micro Solutions has started shipping their latest USB 2.0 DVD+RW backpack drive. The drive will support the following recording speeds; 4x DVD+R, 2.4x DVD+RW, 16x CD-R and 10x CD-RW:

"The backpack DVD+RW drive is the ideal solution for the business or home user who has invested in today's fast PC processing power, but lacks a high-capacity, removable-media storage drive. Its versatility enables users to create, edit and share video DVDs as well as make high-capacity data backups, plus, because it's a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 drive, it can be used with multiple PCs, letting IT departments stretch their dollars," said Pat Barron, vice president
of sales at Micro Solutions.

The backpack DVD+RW drive records and plays DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R and CD-RW media formats. It has speeds of 4x DVD+R, 2.4x DVD+RW, 12x DVD read, 16x CD-R, 10x CD-RW and 40x CD read. Because DVD data transfer rates are nine times that of CDs (1x for DVDs means 1,350 KBps throughput, while 1x for CDs means 150 KBps), the 4x DVD+R data transfer speed is equivalent to that of a 36x CD.

Micro Solutions' backpack DVD+RW drive has a suggested retail price of $349.00 and will be available this month. You can of course discuss this drive in our DVD Hardware Forum.
