Over at RPC1.org
we can read that Herrie and BronKowTech45 released a modified firmware for the NEC1300 DVD burner. Beside the usual "region free"-patch it also allows changing the booktype setting which is something new for dual format drives, although BTC is currently working on this feature for their drives.
| FEATURES: - DYNAMIC BITSETTING:
Now your NEC can burn DVD+R(W)s with different book types. DVD+R, -R, +RW, -RW and -ROM are possible. The default settings (recommended) at power on are:
book type for media ------------------------ DVD-ROM | DVD+Rs DVD-RW | DVD+RWs
Use DVDInfo Pro (recommended) or DVDBitSetter to change book type settings. The settings will stay resistant until you power off your computer or until you change them again. - NEW AUTO RESET ROUTINE:
Region code - no problem. If you ever have set a regio code to your drive this firmware will reset your drive to factory settings once. Don't worry about the flash memory. After this reset the firmware will not(!) write in flash anymore. Any temporary region code setting will disappear after changing the DVD. - 2X RIP LIMIT:
removed for sure |
This firmware should minimize compatibility problems with existing standalone DVD players which don't support all booktypes. For more detailed information have a look at this thread on the RPC1.org Forum or just visit Herrie's homepage .
Feel free to discuss this new firmware in our Firmware Forum.
