So, what's so great about DVI-I terminal (Digital Video Interface)? The short answer is a better picture from a digital device. This unit is capable of transmitting a 720p or 1080i from it's DVI-I terminal. If you have a projector for instance, the signal will be in digital form unchanged and unmolested from projector to the display device. This method provides and ensures for a much cleaner signal and hence a much better picture. While not as good as true HDTV due to limitations of the XGA projector, it does break the 480p barrier so the image is remakably better. Those of us contemplating a home theater system may want to give this a look.
Another feature of the V880 that may be of interest, is its multi-region capability with the ability to play digital media with Regional Coding Enhancement (RCE). By using a secret menu, you can set its region setting or simply make it multiregion for universal use. As if that isn't enough, you can also disable Macrovision through the same secret menu. The V880 can play VD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, CD, Video CD, CD-Rom (MP3), CD-R, and CD-RW. It has a built-in NTSC-to-PAL and PAL-to-NTSC converter and recognizes JPEG images.
