A co-owned kiosk operator of McDonald's called Redbox Automated has just announced an agreement with the Wal-Mart Stores. Wal-Mart will expand its number of automated DVD rental kiosks with Redbox' help.
Currently there are 800 stores offering the service and most of Wal-Mart's 3,500 locations will start offering it too. With Redbox being the biggest vendor of DVD kiosks (7,000 machines), Wal-Mart thinks they've found the right partner.
Wal-Mart will start installing the machines within a year.
