mrdataNY used our news submit to tell us: "So much for the "evil" burning / downloading theory." 😛 In Canada, at least right now, it is perfectly legal to download music over P2P, you cannot upload though. One would think, that in such an area where the music can be had for nothing, that sales would plummet. At least this has been the excuse of the RIAA for years now, along with all the labels. They point to P2P as one of the main reasons CD sales have fallen off. This particular statistic, seems to go against that.

That is, of course, according to a report recently published by Canadian Heritage. This is coupled with another recent report that the Bare Naked Ladies sales on the latest album sky-rocketed under a new business model. |
