Although a lot of bands hate Napster, some still think it's a cool and fine way to promote their music. Some of these bands which are together in the AIM (Association Of Independent Music) are about to use Napster to promote their music.
Stereophonics, Moby, Garbage, Slipknot, Underworld , Basemant Jaxx, Ash and a host of other acts are set to be tied to file sharing application NAPSTER in a landmark deal. |
A statement revealing the news reads: "The UK's Association Of Independent Music (AIM) and Independent Music Company Association today signal a worldwide licensing agreement with Napster on behalf of the UK and European Independent record sectors. The agreement has at once authorised use of hundreds of thousands of tracks belonging to hundreds of independent record labels across Europe and helped secure the future of Napster's file-sharing community when its membership based service launches this summer.
Ok I know this has been done before by bands like the Offspring etc and I still think the idea is really good. I guess loads of bans (and especially popgroups) are scared that people'll find out that the only good numbers on their albums are their 2 hitsingles.... so those albums won't be sold. And they don't deserve to be sold
