Netflix streams on set top boxes soon

On Monday Netflix announced that they will reach a partnership with three companies to let subscribers watch films streamed directly from the Web to TVs. These partnerships are similar to the their set-top box alliance with LG. Currently Netflix has 8 million subscribers and the company is looking for a way to expand their Internet movie feature to allow you to directly watch video from the PC on your TV.

Netflix isn't announcing the companies' names yet, but they are now working to integrate Netflix's technology in their products. Besides LG, three others are part of the partnership. "Three of the four partners are major companies, which each sell millions of devices per year and will enable the Netflix functionality in some of those devices likely in the fourth quarter of this year," Chief Executive Officer Reed Hastings said in a conference call with analysts.

Now that we've to pay more to watch a Blu-ray movie from Netflix, it's good that the company comes with this kind of news. The only thing we know now is that it won't take long before we know the names of the companies. After that we can probably tell you more.
