New Firmware for Philips DVDR1640P DVD-Writer

Philips sent us their newest firmware for the Philips DVDR1640P DVD-Writer (Philips DVDR1620K/00 and Philips DVDR1640K/00). We reviewed this drive back in September this year and it got our SAFEBUY award. The review can be found here.

The new firmware has the version number P2.4 and below you can see the change log that was included with the firmware.

We noticed that the mentioned drive also can perform disc quality tests to measure PI Errors, PI Failures and Jitter at higher speed then 1x with Nero CD-DVD speed V3.42. You can scan your burned DVD-disc at: MAX, 8x, 6x and 4x. (Even CD-R's can be scanned for C1/C2-errors and jitter).

Below you will find a snapshot of the Philips DVDR1640P performing quality scans with Nero CD-DVD speed V3.42.
