It is done! Just a few days after LiteON has released a firmware which upgrades the writing speeds of its SOHW 1633 series, has Sony released a similar firmware for its OEM LiteON SOHW 1633S(X), the DRU/DRX 710 A/UL.
TDK updated the firmware for the 1612 DLB an OEM
SOHW 1653S. The new unoffical C7S3 firmware adds
medias, improved writestrategies and auto booktypesetting for
DVD+R(W)-DL medias to the drive.
And
finally, we can report that LiteON has also updated some of its drives via firmware.
