New environmentally HP batteries available

Boston-Power has developed a new laptop battery that is officially Ecolabel-certified and will be available to Hewlett-Packard laptop owners starting immediately.  The new Sonata batteries are environmentally friendly and can offer three years of sustainable performance, the company said in a statement.

"From the beginning, our goal has been to help notebook computer users benefit from optimal mobility with dependable, high-performance, environmentally sustainable batteries," Boston-Power Founder and CEO Dr. Christina Lampe-Onnerud said in a statement.  "HP's endorsement of Sonata is a great step forward in popularizing this battery technology."

The new Sonata batteries for HP products are available for 18 different HP laptops, which is about 70 percent of the company's mobile product line.

Boston-Power is best known for developing Lithium-ion batteries, and this recent announcement is the biggest contract the company has been able to make official.  Both laptop manufacturers and battery makers are attempting to go green by offering more environmentally friendly batteries for consumers to choose from.

The new battery is available for $149.99 from the online HP Shopping store.  It'll be available before the end of the month as a point-of-sale option when consumers are purchasing a new laptop.
