New firmware for Philips DVDR885P and DVDRW416

On 14 January 2005, we reported about a new firmware that was in development for the Philips DVDRW855K/00. With this new firmware, users would be able to upgrade that drive into a true DVD±RW/+R9 DL drive. Today, we are happy to be the exclusive source of this important upgrade for our Philips community members! It's available right now and can be downloaded here.

 

Change log:

 

  • Upgrade for type: DVDRW885K/00 -> Drive type number on label.
  • Upgrade for string: DVDR885P -> Drive name as seen in Windows ™

 Changes from firmware P1.7+P1.8 to P1.9:

 

  • One firmware only (without a switching tool) for DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R Double Layer, DVD-R and DVD-RW writing.
  • Improved writing quality on several DVD media.

 

 

In addition we also offer a firmware update for the Philips DVDRW416K/30.

  • Upgrade for type: DVDRW416K/30 -> Drive type number on label.
  • Upgrade for string: DVDRW416 -> Drive name as seen in Windows ™

 Changes from firmware P1.2 to P1.4:

 

  • Adding reading of recorded DVD+R Double Layer discs.
  • Improved writing quality on several DVD+R media.
