New products from Imation, Panasonic and e.Digital

There are currently a lot of companies announcing new products that might be intresting for CD Freaks visitors, here are is a little round-up.

  • New from Panasonic:

Panasonic released yesterday a press release announcing a third-generation DVD recorder, that is able to write at DVD-RAM or DVD-R. The recorder has also Time Slip(TM) that allows the recorder's to simultaneous record and play.

Time Slip(TM) also allows the recorder's Simultaneous Record and Play function, a convenient feature for recording a favorite TV series. For example, the consumer can watch last week's episode of his/her favorite show while recording this week's, from the same disc at the same time. The DMR-E30 also provides a 16-program timer recording feature.

The DMR-E30 features Progressive Scan, for optimum picture quality when viewing a DVD movie. Progressive Scan doubles the scan lines of an interlaced signal (from 480i to 480p) by scanning all 525 lines in 1/60 of a second for each pass. The higher-density video signal creates film-like DVD images extraordinarily close to the way they originally appeared in the cinema ? with rich detail, extraordinary depth of field, and precise color reproduction.

In addition to virtually unlimited re-write capability, the DMR-E30 allows you to use your DVD recorder like a personal video recorder, or PVR. Recording is instantaneous with the touch of one button. The DMR-E30 will automatically find blank space on the disc and begin recording. Because of DVD-RAM's extremely fast transfer rate you can view the recorded portion of an ongoing program from the beginning, while at the same time recording the program in progress. And you can do this all from the remote control. In the past, with a VCR, you'd have to wait until the show ends before watching it.
