On CDRInfo their is an interesting answer from plextor on the SCSI issue.
 "...Our PleXWriter 12/10/32S is the last model that we have developed with a SCSI interface. We have no plans to develop faster SCSI burners. Due to BURN-Proof technology, the demand for SCSI burners decreased a lot. Regarding our 40-speed CD-Rom drive. Also this product will be the last SCSI CD-Rom drive from Plextor. Of course this does not mean that we do not support these products anymore. As long has there will be drives in the market, we will help the customer in the best possible way..." |

They do have plans for a DVD-R recorder but this will take atleast 8-10 months.
