Nokia introduces 5630 music phone

Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 5630, its latest XpressMusic mobile phone aimed at consumers looking for enhanced music playing capabilities on their phones.

The phone has a 600 MHz processor, 3.2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and uses the Symbian S60 operating system.  Nokia is shipping the phone with a 4GB microSD card, but the internal microSD slot can support cards with a storage capacity of up to 16GB.

An interesting feature on the new phone is the "Say and Play" function, designed so phone owners can control music by saying the name of an artist or song aloud.

The phone is less than a half-inch thick and weighs only 2.8 ounces.  Phone owners will be able to use the online Nokia Music Store to purchase and download music over-the-air.

The 5630 is a GSM phone supporting 3G service on HSDPA networks, and will first be released in Europe, China, India, and Africa before expanding to other markets.

The phone will officially make its debut at the Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona, Spain.  Nokia plans on releasing the 5630 XpressMusic phone during the second quarter this year, with an MSRP of around $260.

Nokia will compete head to head with Sony Ericsson, a company well known for its full line of music phones, including the W508a, W760a and W595a.
