Nokia has finally unveiled the 8-megapixel N86 smartphone, which was announced during its own press conference.
The Nokia N85 and N95 have built-in 5-megapixel cameras, but Nokia decided to throw in a better camera in its N86, as competitors continue to roll out phones with high megapixel cameras. The Samsung Memoir will have an 8-megapixel camera, with Sony Ericsson's Idou smartphone shipping with a whopping 12-megapixel camera.

To ensure its camera will snap good photos, Nokia worked alongside Carl Zeiss to make sure the N86 is able to take excellent pictures and record good video regardless of lighting conditions. A mechanical shutter will allow phone owners to take 8-megapixel images at high speeds, which is a luxury many phones with cameras do not have.
Each picture can be geotagged and then posted to either Nokia's Ovi service or Flickr. Owners can store photos and video using the internal 8GB storage, or can use the built-in microSD slot to expand storage up to 16GB.
Aside from the camera, the phone uses the Symbian S60 operating system, has a 2.6-inch OLED display, WiFi, FM transmitter, and stereo Bluetooth support. European consumers will be able to pick up the phone in the second quarter of 2009 for 375 Euros.
