OCZ introduces Throttle eSATA flash drive

OCZ Technology recently introduced a new eSATA flash drive that will allow users to copy or read data at speeds faster than current USB 2.0 drives.

The new OCZ Throttle is able to read data at 90MB/s with a write speed of 30MB/s.  Throttle is available in 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB capacities, though pricing has not been released by OCZ.

OCZ also includes a mini USB cable for non-powered eSATA ports and to offer USB access to the flash drive.

"We are excited to introduce the Throttle eSATA drive, which delivers many of the key benefits of external SATA including faster transfer rates and a cost effective expansion storage for high performance computing, OCZ Director of Product Management Eugene Chang said in a statement.

USB flash thumb drives have increased in popularity, as storage capacties reach new levels, but eSATA flash drives remain obscure compared to USB flash drives.Ao-LAB and several other companies have eSATA flash drives that help transfer data at faster speeds.
