buster was kind enough to use our newssubmit and tell us that Olli has posted some of his future plans on the CloneClinic Forum. He has some big plans and I'm sure we all can't wait till they are out.
He has planned a new version of DVD Regio Killer, an Audio version of CloneCD, and simple CD and DVD Mastering software:
Q: Any other cool developments in the future? |
A: Yes. The next release will be DVD Region Killer 2, which hopefully "will blow your mind away". It will work radically different from Region Killer 1 (much, much better, you'll see) and will run under Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
Then there will be a CloneCD version with similar capabilities like Exact Audio Copy for the Audiophiles (it should have been finished already, but it is more difficult than we thought).
Next year there will be "MakeDisc", a *very* simple CD and DVD Mastering software. It won't have all the features NERO & Co. offer, but it'll serve 90% of your mastering needs and has some "specialities" the others don't offer. It offers a custom made ISO/Joliet/UDF formatter and a feature we call "compile on the fly" for Audio CD compilations.
Makedisc will offer some very cool features when used with DVDs. I don't want to spoil the fun by telling them now, but it'll be a big surprise.
We are still discussing if it makes sense to continue development of VirtualCloneCD. The project was put on hold as because there is no real need, as there are the wonderful Daemon Tools (greetings to SwENSkE and VeNoM386), but with DVD Mastering and MakeDisc it would make sense... you'll see, why.
Last, but not least: Yes, there will be a DVD copy tool similar to CloneCD as well, but it won't make 1:1 copies (you really don't want that). It will have in-built remastering capabilities, so you can get rid off User restrictions and regional codes and you can split movies on different discs. The tool will be based on the MakeDisc writing engine.
This means that CloneCD follows the line of CDmate that is trying to bundle the features of both CloneCD and Nero. Olli has however a big advantage: He's the author of CloneCD...
