By looking at OpenNap's statistics from early last year, conditions on the network were very favorable for the hundred thousand individuals who populated the network. Over 220 servers were online, coupled by approximately 20 million files (which has remained relatively unchanged).
However, the network collapsed virtually overnight, as its population and server base dwindled at the hands of the RIAA. Many old time favorites, like DolphinNap and MusicCity, were forced to cease operations. While some disappeared forever, MusicCity reinvented itself, as it now operates under the FastTrack license.
