I Readed on the dutch news paper `De telegraaf` there site there is a fungus thats feeds on cds. the geoloog Victor Cardenes encountered the organism when he in 1999 visited friends in central america. |
His friends showed him a cd that didnt worked any more and had becomed completly transparant.
Back in madrid Cardenes and his colleague`s of the high council of scientific research looked under a electron microscope and saw the organism had eaten the aluminum layer.
Hans Hofstraat the organical chemist of philips say`s that the organism have eaten only 1 cd under extreme circumstances .
The german sciencetific magazine Naturwissenschaften found the discorvery importand enough to dedicate a article on it.
