Anyone who
has used a file sharing application has likely found out that the quality of the
files is not always as it should. Not only do some people keep corrupted files
on their hard disc, there was also a company trying to pollute the networks.
This company, called Overpeer, distributed all kinds of corrupted files in
filesharing networks to annoy downloaders in the hope they would reside to
legal download sites. It seems this tactic didn't work, the company will shut down its 'service'.

Loudeye announced that Overpeer, Inc., Loudeye's wholly-owned content protection subsidiary, has ceased operations effective immediately and will continue to pursue options to maximize the value of its assets. |
The music industry already produces enough crap, it seems
they didn't need an external company to help them.
