Last Tuesday Sony's gaming unit announced that they are delaying the launch of the PS3's 3D virtual community to this year's autumn. Last year the service was already delayed and now Sony does it again. The service will offer PS3 owners a community where they can interact with each other. By creating avatars and online characters you will be able to show the virtual 'you'.
Earlier Sony postponed the launch to improve product quality, and now in 2008 the Japanese company comes up with the same reason. "We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer," Sony Computer Entertainment Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai said in a statement. "But we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today," Hirai said to Reuters.
Some believe that by offering this service and the launch of GTA5 the console will reach a dominant position once again. How this will develop is something we don't know yet...
