Peer Impact P2P signs deal with four major labels

Wurld
Media, provider of Peer Impact P2P software, has completed a deal with four major music lables including
Sony/BMG and Universal Music Group. In case you don't know, Peer Impact is an
application that allows the downloading of music legally, but with a twist. You
can potentially earn money if the music you like and buy, is uploaded to another
peers computer. Details are not clear as the program is presently
in the beta stage. Here are some comments from Greg Kerber of Wurld Media:

Users
can search for their favorite artists and buy songs for 99 cents and the
whole album for less than $10, but you could soon make that cash back.
When someone uploads a song from your computer, some of that fee goes
directly to your account.

Kerber said, "We have seen folks with $20 invested in
music, enable themselves by watching the network, paying attention to
what's popular on the network, creating $5, $6 in revenue back to
them."

You could call the company one of the Spa City's best-kept
secrets. It's been located quietly on Putnam Street for the last six
years. But officials are confident -- give it a couple weeks and Wurld
Media will be a household name.

Kerber said, "Our goal is to get to over a million tracks
this year and evolve some of the other products like music video, movie
and computer games, which we think is a huge opportunity at the consumer
level."

Right now, you have to be invited to join the network and
start downloading songs, but in the coming weeks the network will be open
to anyone.

If you want to read more about this software, here is a link to the page. If
you join the beta or are already participating in this program, please feel free
to comment here or in our Music
Downloads, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) & Legal Issues Forum.
 If this idea
can get a foothold, it could be a great way to offset the time, effort and
resources spent accumulating software and music via the Internet.
