Thanx to Bytes4U I can post this nice news about a nice MPEG4-solution. Read all about it below here:
Philips MP4Net offers MPEG-4 products to create and deliver streaming audio, video, and graphics content over today's Internet as well as emerging broadband and mobile IP networks. The MPEG-4 international standard combines streaming audio, video, and graphics with interactivity and allows delivery to multiple platforms including personal computers, Internet appliances, and wireless devices. |
Building on the success of the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 standards in enabling content delivery over broadcast channels, Philips has been a major contributor to the development of MPEG-4 for delivering multimedia content. The MPEG-4 standard insures interoperability between vendors and across platforms and provides maximum quality over low-bandwidth delivery channels. With MPEG-4, content providers will also be able to offer a new range of interactive services using graphics and animation as well as traditional video.
Philips MP4Net's first product line, WebCine, brings the benefits of the MPEG-4 standard to the Internet and IP networks today, allowing streaming to extend beyond computers to emerging broadband Internet appliances. Future WebCine enhancements will enable deployment of digital rights management and interactive rich media applications using MPEG-4.
With the adoption of MPEG-4 technology by 3GPP to deliver multimedia to 2.5G and 3G mobile devices, MPEG-4 is positioned to offer a single format encompassing both wired and wireless devices. Philips has conducted demonstrations of Audio / Video streaming over mobile networks in preparation for future MPEG-4 mobile product offerings.
Well ofcourse this sounds nice but just one thing... Philips often released a product that was meant to be an innovation and after 4 years the product is cancelled because the number of sold devices is extremely low. In my eyes this is because Philips almost never develops a product further after its release. And that's a mistake... (remember CDI, DCC?)....
