Two new internal
DVD-R/RW Writer models, 'SuperMulti' and 'Dual' Format Drives
The DVR-110 'SuperMulti' drive and
the DVR-110D 'Dual' format drive include a wide range of technologies to
optimise DVD writing performance. They also offer industry-leading write speeds
and, with a broad range of media compatibility, deliver a new level of all-round
DVD-writing performance for consumers and business users seeking
high-performance removable storage.
'Pioneer invented the world's most popular DVD format [DVD-R] and the
drives extend our reputation for innovation. They include original and improved
technologies that automatically ensure optimum recording quality. And they
provide consumers with the option of selecting a model with the utmost
compatibility for their requirements,' observes Chris Tampsett, Senior Manager,
Pioneer Europe Multimedia Division.
He continues, 'With the added
confidence of Pioneer's renowned reliability and build quality, these versatile
drives enable consumers to tailor their DVD writer to their exact storage needs
- whether its general back-up, file archiving or managing the increasing volumes
of data created by home movie, digital imaging and audio/video *
applications.'
Read / Write
speeds
The DVR-110 'SuperMulti' drive
writes at 16X speed on DVD-R and +R, 8X on DVD-R DL and +R DL (Dual Layer/Double
Layer), 6X on DVD-RW and 8X on +RW. Its write speed for DVD-RAM is an
industry-leading 5X. The DVR-110D 'Dual' format drive provides identical write
performance to the DVR-110 'SuperMulti' drive, but excludes the support for
DVD-RAM writing, thus offering consumers a choice of DVD writers which is
best-suited to their exact storage needs.
New and improved
technologies
Both drives share the same core technologies. A key development is the
addition of 'Performance Adjusting Firmware'. This intelligently adjusts the
disc rotation speed depending on the user's application. Its 'quiet mode' lowers
the disc rotation speed to minimise any operational noise so as not to impinge
on users' audio/video applications, whilst its 'performance mode' raises the
disc rotation speed offering maximum performance for applications such as file
transfers.
Writing quality is enhanced
through an 'Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber' (Low Vibration Mechanism). It
reduces the instability and vibrations caused by imbalanced or damaged media to
achieve and maintain the integrity of the recording and playback performance.
This feature is complemented by the 'Liquid Crystal Tilt Servo Mechanism' which
ensures precise writing by automatically compensating for Single and Dual Layer
media that are warped or of uneven thickness. With a 2MB data buffer size, the
drive's package of integrated technologies delivers a superior level of writing
performance.
Five models are
available:
