Pioneer has announced is launch of two new internal DVD writers, the DVR-112 multi-format drive and the DVR-112 dual-format drive. Both drives feature 18x DVD±R write performance and 10x DVD±R DL write performance. The DVR-12 with 12x DVD-RAM read & write support comes in a choice of black and Beige and the DVR-112D with DVD-RAM read-only support comes in a choice of Black, Beige and Silver. Other write speeds common to both drives include 8x DVD+RW, 6xDVD-RW, 40x CD-R and 32x CD-RW.
Other features include Resonance Stabiliser technology to control the airflow to minimise disc warping, a Multi-Effect Liquid Crystal Tilt Compensator to compensate for warped / uneven discs for precise writing, an Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber to reduce vibrations for imbalanced/damaged media and performance Adjusting Firmware to adjust the spindle speed to the usage pattern to minimise noise. By minimising vibrations and keeping the spindle speed to a minimum to suit the user application, Pioneer claims these drives to be extremely quiet.
The writers will become available to the OEM market from February 2007 with pricing expected to be around €40 per unit on the European market. The full Pioneer press release can be read here.
