Pirated DVDs' prices go up

Trinidad and Tobago, two Islands in the Caribean, suprised everybody at the World Soccer Championship in 2006. Now the country starts with a battle against local CD and DVD vendors. The majority of these sell copied and cheap versions for not more than ten bucks. This is expected to change since a price increase of as much as $60 is nearby.

An idea from the government to make all 5,000 pirates have a mechanical license will increase the current price and not help the movie studio's in any way. The government thinks that with adding this rule, they will make the pirates operate legally. Trinidad and Tobago's government stated that they also think that the vendors will now sell their own work. This wasn't done before since many thought that the police will find them through these releases.

What do you think, will Trindad's idea really work? Will Trinidad's movie and music industry reach the wished productive mode?
