Plextor launches Europe's first MPEG-4 digital video converter

PLEXTOR LAUNCHES EUROPE'S
FIRST MPEG-4 DIGITAL VIDEO CONVERTER
From analogue to digital in no time

Brussels, March 2004 '“ Converting analogue data to
digital information is very popular.  But what exactly is the situation
with the conversion of home videos, well-preserved videotapes and pictures from
an analogue camera, TV or camcorder?  And what about MPEG-4 and DivX®?

ConvertX PX-M402U is the name of Plextor's first digital video
converter.  This brand-new device certainly has a lot to offer.  The
ConvertX PX-M402U swallows analogue information and converts it to MPEG-1 and 2,
as well as to MPEG-4 and DivX®!

With the ConvertX PX-M402U, you can convert over 2
hours of picture material in real-time, and store it on a CD, and up to ten
hours on a DVD.  The ConvertX PX-M402U makes use of a USB 2.0 port for the
data transfer, and is equipped with a stereo audio input, an S-video and a
composite video input.  The ConvertX PX-M402U is also supplied as a total
package, including the DVD software  WinDVD Player and WinDVD Creator by
Intervideo.

Europe's first MPEG-4 digital video
converter

Naturally, you want to share your favourite videos,
not just via PC or television, but also via the net.  The ConvertX PX-M402U
converts analogue video and audio sources in real-time onto CD or DVD in your
choice of format.  For example, you can use MPEG-1 to record one hour of
video onto a VCD. With MPEG-2, you can store 2
hours of video on a DVD disc.

But the showpiece among the formats is undoubtedly
MPEG-4.  Via this format, you can compress your data even more, without
loss of quality, and save innumerable bytes of disc space (up to 7 times as
much).  You can save over 2 hours of video on a standard CD, and 10 hours
on a DVD.  So it is ideal for portable devices with limited memory
capacity.

DVD creation within reach for
everyone

The ConvertX PX-M402U comes with the powerful yet
user-friendly DVD-software WinDVD Player and WinDVD Creator by InterVideo.
So you can combine all the characteristics of a hardware digital video converter
with advanced functionality for DVD creation.

Transfer, process, create
and burn pictures or view them on a PC is child's play.  Even processing
like making screenshots, zooming in on particular scenes, making your own
thumbnails to browse to the various sections of a film or watch a film on your
desktop while you continue working are all possible.  Thanks to Plextor's
'Direct to disc" and 'Edit on disc"-technology, you can also transfer and burn
pictures at the same time, or edit certain items on your newly-created DVD
without having to completely re-do the burning.
