Porn and pirated music increase broadband popularity

According to an article on News.com are currently both porn and pirated music driving broadband internet. It seems that many users are getting a broadband connection to be able to download porn and free music faster and due to this the demand has grown over 130 percent.

The number of European surfers using fast broadband Internet connections at home grew by 136 percent in the 12 months that ended in April, the study from Nielsen/Netratings said. The beneficiaries of the broadband boom are entertainment sites, in particular adult entertainment.  "The adult entertainment sector has increased its reach year on year in all European markets except Italy, where, not coincidentally, broadband access is the relative lowest in Europe,'' the report said.

The strong demand for broadband is a good news-bad news scenario. For example, major music labels decry the rampant trade of copyright-protected songs, an activity that has surged as home surfers get faster Internet connections.

Of course none of our CD Freaks visitors are downloading porn or pirated music, but only download the large updates of e.g. Nero and DVDxCopy, and other software they want to try. Certainly DVD2One with its few Kb's is a traffic booster 🙂
