QuickTime Pro, AppleCare licenses jump to top ten sales

The new video
iPod has made quite an impact on Apple's corner. The new iPod lineup is helping
to generate more revenues from QuickTime Pro and AppleCare licenses/extended
warranties. QuickTime Pro licenses, which sell for $29.99 for Mac OS X and
Windows, were ranked third and fourth most popular items on the Apple "Top
Sellers" list on their online store, updated last Monday afternoon. As expected,
the iPod Video was number one, following the iPod Nano player. To fill their new
iPod Video, consumers are using the newest version of QuickTime Pro (7.0.3) that
includes a specialized video output function, which allows users to export video
content compatible with the 2.5" LCD screen of the fifth-generation video iPod.
With over 1 million sold videos from its iTunes Music Store
($1.99 a piece), the new video iPod has had
an incredible impact on Apple's finances.

On the other side, consumers are also concerned
about iPod's durability - this situation appears to be fueling sales of the
company's AppleCare extended warranties, which were listed as the fifth most
popular item.

To complete the top ten list, Apple also
included iTunes music cards and nano accessories among the most sold.
According to regulatory filings,
sales of Apple software and extended warranties have grown steadily over the
past two years. From fiscal year 2003 to 2004, the company's "Software &
Other" sales grew 24%, while in fiscal year 2005 the same segment grew
38%
.
