Today we received a press release promoting a service called RepliCheck. This new service is designed specifically to help with anti-piracy efforts in manufacturing plants. RepliCheck identifies copyrighted material before the replication, quickly and automatically.
Using a patented audio fingerprinting technology,
RepliCheck "listens" to audio files or tracks on a CD and matches those fingerprints against a database of 3.5 million songs. The result is a report that gives a record of anti-piracy efforts and includes the title, releasing label and copyright date for each track found
in the database.
To get started, install a small software application on an Internet-enabled PC. The RepliCheck service accepts most of the popular DDP mastering formats, audio CDs, WAV and compressed MP3 files. |
The application generates compact fingerprints for each of the content files and sends them for lookup against the Audible Magic reference database. If a copyright match is found, RepliCheck returns the song title, performing artist and copyright date.
The service immediately generates a copyright report visible on your monitor. This report can then be printed out or stored on the PC for your records. If you want to listen to a particular track, you can click on the title to hear it. You can also set up Replicheck to run after hours or at any time you specify.
More information can be found here. It seems that this a new way to protect the market from big pirates using legal manufacturing plants...
