Review added: Plextor 24/10/40 IDE

It took us a hell of a time, but our reviewer StevieB has finished a review of the Plextor 24/10/40 that was kindly provided to us by Plextor Europe. We have tested the drive and created a 17(!!) pages long review that should answer most of the questions about this latest Plextor drive.

We have tested the drive for all its capabilities including reading and writing the most 'populair' copy protections , what this drive does pretty well when you use the right firmware:

As SafediscII reader this Plextor seemed to be in the beginning a disaster. Safedisc I worked but very slowely and SafediscII didn't work at all. Especially with this DeltaforceIII Landwarrior.

But! Firmware V1.02 performed a miracle.

Safedisc II is being read rapidly and this increases the popularity of the drive a lot in these regions. It is really a pleasure to enjoy the very fast technical support from Plextor.

Ofcourse we did not only test its capablities for backing up copy protected CD's, we have also tested the read spead, DAE speed, all kinds of CD-R's and many more. Read more here!

Update: Note that the 1.02 version of the firmware is not offically released yet, and therefor can not be found on the Plextor site.
