Ricoh sended out a press release announcing that their 4x DVD+R/RW drive, the
MP5240A, is now available. The drive is able to write to both DVD+R and
DVD+RW media at a speed up to 4x.

The Ricoh highlight at this year's CeBIT attracted the interest of users right away because this device perfectly implemented DVD high-speed for the first time. The Ricoh MP5240A-DP writes not only DVD+RW but also DVD+R media of the new generation with 4x speed which corresponds to 36x speed with CD-R/RW. Data volume of 4 GB can be stored in just under 12 minutes. Excellent compatibility The Ricoh MP5240A-DP also offers the user the outstanding compatibility of the DVD+RW/+R standard. DVD-ROMs and self-recorded DVD videos can be quickly and simply recorded using the software supplied with the device. These can be played on almost all existing DVD videos and DVD-ROM drives. In doing this, the DVD+R offers an even higher level of compatibility. Even when inserting data on a DVD+RW, the excellent compatibility to DVD-ROM is retained. Due to the unique DVD+VR video format, video clips can be added easily to DVD-RW or these can be processed or deleted while again retaining compatibility. Since recording and file conversion take place at the same time during writing to DVD+RW, the time required to write a DVD is substantially reduced. |
The price of this drive will be (including software and
media) euro 299,-. Ricoh also has their own DVD+RW/+R 4x High-Speed Media
available in jewel cases and 25-pack.
