Robert Moore: Entertainment industry killed my company

Studios..." DVD copy software company 321 Studios, is considering going
bankrupt to help fend off lawsuits from the music, movie and games
industries. Atari, Electronic Arts and Vivendi Universal all jumped on
the lawsuit bandwagon a couple days ago. This time to order a ban
on sales of 321"s Games X Copy utility. It was more than the company could bear financially, according to this interview.

321 STUDIOS, which sells software to copy DVDs, games, has warned it may go out of business because the entertainment industry is gunning for it. In an interview with IDG, 321 company founder and president Robert More said that he was starting to get the message that "somebody wants us dead and they are not going to stop before we are dead". The company which lost a major court action against the film industry over its DVD X copy product is now being taken on by Atari, Electronic Arts, and Vivendi Universal Games for a product it wrot that copies computer games. More said the latest court battle meant the company would probably have to go into receivership which would mean an end of it.

According to the interview, 321 has had to lay off 3-400 workers due to the impact of these suits on their business. Apparently, they are down to a core group of about 24 employees. Like them or hate them, at least they stood up to the machine and tried to bring it down.
