Roxio to deliver DVD double layer burning on the Mac

ROXIO TO DELIVER DVD DOUBLE
LAYER BURNING SOFTWARE FOR MAC
Roxio Toast® 6 to Pioneer DVD Double Layer Burning on the
Mac

May 11th 2004 '“ Roxio, Inc. (Nasdaq: ROXI), The
Digital Media Company®, provider of the best selling digital media software in
the world, announced today that its award winning Toast 6 line of software will
soon be DVD Double Layer (DL) compatible, allowing Mac users to take advantage
of this exciting technology for the first time.

The new DVD +R Double Layer capabilities of Toast 6
Titanium and Toast with Jam 6 will enable users to burn nearly twice the amount
of personal data (from 4.7GB to 8.5GB), or record more than three hours of
MPEG-2 (DVD-quality) video content on a single DVD +R DL disc.  Macintosh
video professionals will have the power and flexibility to create full-length
productions without using complicated and expensive DLT (digital linear
tape).  All Toast 6 users will benefit from the ability to back up their
non-encrypted DVDs without having to first compress the dual layer into a single
layer, a step which requires additional software and sacrifices video and audio
quality.

'Roxio continues to set the standard for CD and DVD
burning software by anticipating the market's needs," said Adam Fingerman, Roxio
director of product management. 'Our dual layer burning capabilities will ensure
our users can immediately take full advantage of the increased capacity DVD +R
Double Layer technology affords.  As the pioneering application for Double
Layer DVD burning on the Mac, our Toast 6 software will be the perfect
complement for OEM partners currently releasing Double Layer drives."

Toast 6 Titanium will soon include the following
powerful Double Layer capabilities:

  • Data format - backup and create data discs with
up to 8.5 GB of data on a single DL DVD disc

  • Copy format - create one-click copies of
    non-encrypted dual-layer DVD movies

  • Video format - author DVDs with more than three
    hours of video

Toast with Jam 6 customers will enjoy even more
extensive Double Layer benefits due to the inclusion of Dolby Digital with their
original software:

  • Audio format - put more than 70 hours of music
on a DVD music album, using Dolby Digital sound

  • Video format - author DVDs containing more than
4 hours of video without sacrificing audio quality using Dolby Digital
    compression

All registered Toast 6 Titanium and Toast with Jam
6 customers will be able to update their software using a free download
available in June from the Roxio's websites worldwide.

Toast® 6 Titanium is the standard for CD and DVD
burning on Mac OS X, enabling users to create and share music, video, photos and
data on CD or DVD faster and easier than ever before.  Toast 6 Titanium is
ideal for use with iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie.  Toast 6 Titanium is the
recipient of many prestigious accolades including 5 Stars from Macworld (UK),
Personal Computer World and winner of the MacUser Award 2003.

Created for discriminating consumers who want
superior quality sound in their CDs and DVDs, Toast with Jam™ 6 combines the
entire award-winning Toast® 6 Titanium suite with Jam™ 6 mixing and mastering
software, BIAS Peak™ Express stereo editing software, and Dolby® Digital sound
encoding software.  Toast with Jam 6 was awarded 'Best of Show" at the San
Francisco Macworld Conference and Expo in January, 2004.
