SCSI firm Adaptec scaling back its European HQ

SCSI, it's one the things that always gives a lot of discussion on this site. Many of you have been clear that you would like to buy new SCSI devices but it seems besides the die-hard SCSI fans the rest of the world doesn't really care about SCSI.

Now Adaptec has announced it will pull back from Waterloo, Belgium because competition, a bad economy and probably also a fall back in demand of SCSI devices.

The company is moving tech support, admin and marketing functions and "transitioning" most of Belgium's jobs to the UK, Germany and France. In other words, the jobs are there, if not the people.

"Continued storage market consolidation and the challenging economy have intensified the competitive landscape in Europe," Robert Stephens, Adaptec president and CEO, said in a statement. "Our primary objective, here, is to ensure that the right job functions are in the right places in order for us to best serve our customers."

There is no mention of cost savings, but we guess there must be some. Europe accounts for approx. 25 per cent of Adaptec revenues the company says.
